He Loves the Nightlife-Newly elect Governor Jerry Brown Moves Midtown

Posted on December 24, 2010

A lot has changed in Sacramento since he was first elected Governor back in the  seventies.  The Metro area has added a million people since he was the Chief of California.

California is one of the few states that does not have an official Residence.    Back in the day, Nancy Regan was clear, she wasn’t living Governors Mansion  (which is now a museum) she called it a fire trap on H Street.   Mr’s Regan and Ronald , lived in a rented stately home in East Sacramento.   Other governors choose the burbs for their home.

Outgoing Governor Schwarzenegger never formally moved to Sacramento . Maria and the kids stayed in their home in Brentwood while the Govenator’s lived in a suite at the Hyatt Regency, across from the capitol.

Former Governor Jerry Brown lived is a small apartment on N street, reportedly on a Mattress.

A seventy something Brown has chosen arguably, the noisiest block in Sacramento to call home.   A  loft on 16th and J .   When he was governor it was a Chevy dealership.   Today its home to two very popular restaurants across the street from the 4000 seat Memorial Auditorium and surrounded by nightclubs and restaurants.

Welcome back Moombeam.
