The Best Soap Opera in San Francisco: The Sheriff and the Soap Star (Part 9) Battle under the Dome The Mayor vs The Sheriff

Last month, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee suspended  Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi from office on. official misconduct charges. 

Sheriff Mirkarimi pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanor false imprisonment of his wife Eliana Lopez( a former Venezuelan soap star).

Mayor Lee’s position is Mirkarimi can no longer effectively serve as sheriff after his guilty plea.

While the Mayor can suspend, he cannot remove the elected Sheriff.   

The first stop on this long train ride is the Ethics commission… The Ethics commission will send its findings and recommendations to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.  Nine votes from the eleven supervisors is  required to remove the Sheriff.

This train has many cars, as this is unchartered waters.   Witness and what some believe is a  re-domestic abuse trial .

Mayor Lee said he didnt;t want to create a public circus, however, its likely to be just that…  

As both sides prepare their arguments  there are many questions.   One of those questions is will his wife testify in the removal proceedings?

This hearing is likely to go through the summer…
