Last week, the supermarket chain Safeway filed a lawsuit in Sacramento Superior Court to prevent S.T.O.P (Sacramento Taxpayers Opposed to Pork) from gathering signatures in front of its Sacramento stores.
S.T.O.P is one of several groups gathering signatures to force a public vote on a new downtown Sacramento Kings arena.
Safeway says, they want to ban all solicitors, signature gatherers, Girl Scouts and others from their store entrances.
S.T.O.P signature gatherers are all volunteers who live in Sacramento.
There are some in the community who are questioning the timing of the suit. The Girl Scouts was present at nearly all the area supermarkets without incident, in addition to the Girl Scouts other groups has been front and center at area Safeway Stores. hmmm?
