Hospitals Healthy Policy is Unhealthy for Neighbors

On Jan 1, Mercy General on J Street , joined Kaiser and other hospitals in the region by not permitting smoking anywhere on site.

So where do u go when u need to grab a smoke?

On to the sidewalk next to Jim and Joanie Ferry’s home.

“I’m allergic to the smoke. So I have to close my windows,” resident Joanie Pope-Ferry said

The Ferrys would like the hospital to again designate a spot for smokers.

Until then…

“Now they’re just more blatant. They picnic out here and they dump their butts out there. It’s ridiculous to have to live like that,” Joanie added.
