Happy Birthday Doris Day ! 88 and still swinging

If you under 35, your saying who?    So you’ll have to wiki her bio.

The rest of us have fond memories of Ms Day. Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff spent most of  her life in the spotlight first as a dancer. then singer, then as an actress, film and television.    She hold the distinction of being the biggest female box-office star in Hollywood history.

Despite her success, Doris was a low profile star, she didn’t attend many high profile events.   One of her famous neighbors Clint Eastwood, said her other office was Safeway.   Today, she enjoys a quieter life in Carmel, Ca as an  Animal Activist, proceeds of her current CD goes towards the Doris Day Animal League (available on Amazon)

Moved to the Big Tomata in the nineties from San Francisco. No Suburbs for me with its single colored houses and lawns and the excitement of pulling out my trash can once a week. I'm a CityFella , a part time New Yorker. I'm happiest in the Center City where people the streets and people are alive. I'm still waiting to buy a 34th floor condo somewhere downtown/Midtown with a nightclub. "Hurry I'm old" My politics are somewhere in the middle with a needle that constantly moves. I'm too liberal to be a Republican and too conservative to be a Democrat. Everything interests me . I've come to love Sacratomato, Its a nice town in cheap sensible shoes .

  1. A nice reminder of when a “Star” was really a “Star”. We don’t have anyone today with the versatility and talent of a Doris Day. She could sing, dance and act. She starred in musicals, biographies, suspense thrillers, westerns, dramas as well as sophisticated comedies, slapstick comedies and domestic comedies. She made it all look easy and the audience identified with her because she was without affectation. Thankfully she has left a legacy of impeccable work including more than 700 songs that she recorded. Her work stands the test of time and generations will be able to discover why Doris Day is one of a kind.
