45 men found sharing one bedroom flat

The cost for housing near Dubai, UAE (United Arab Emirates) is very expensive.

The Sharjah Municipality (a suburb oF Dubai,  rounded up 45 bachelors living in a one-bedroom apartment of a residential building in the Wasit residential area in Sharjah. This is against the municipality’s rules and regulations and ensures safety and stability for families in residential areas.

Sultan Al Muallah, Director General of Sharjah Municipality, said their inspectors have been taking great efforts to ensure that residential areas are free of bachelors, and the problem has now been reduced by 40 per cent.

He added that most of the bachelors found in residential areas are illegals and infiltrators and they take up several jobs, like washing cars and selling pirated CDs and liquor.

The municipality is now carrying out inspections in Mysaloon, Al Majjarah, Al Nabbah and Al Qadisiah.

The inspectors first summon the bachelors to the municipality to make sure they are willing to move to the industrial area. In case they refuse to respond, the municipality will inform the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) to disconnect water and power supply.

The municipality works together with the labour office, immigration department and the police to crack down on this sector of people.
