Mayor Kevin Johnson, Sacramento’s Sports Leader (just saying)

The hits or strike outs keep coming for the re-elected Mayor of California’s Capitol. The Construction  of  an Arena for the Sacramento Kings was priority one  during his first four years in office.

In the eleventh hour, the owners of the Kings pulled out of the Arena Project thus leaving the Arena without a principal tenant…

The Oakland A, long unhappy with their current digs are  looking for a way to get to San Jose.

Mayor Johnson  said hey, what about the  “Big Tomato? and was politely told no.. The A’s weren’t interested in Sacramento.

Undaunted, the Mayor and  Kunal Merchant , executive director of his Think Big Sacramento task force unveiled an exploratory effort to bring major league baseball to Sacramento’s downtown railyard, with an eye toward luring the A’s

Like that one persistent guy, who wont take a simple no for answer, The Owners of the  A’s had to get ugly………
Lew Wolff Co owner of the Oakland Athletic told the San Francisco Chronicle,  Sacto is a nice town but not for major league baseball .
The communications president for the team basically told Mayor Johnson to get lost “some months ago”      Sacto is an unlikely destination for big league baseball.  It has a smaller populations than the San Francisco Bay Area  and fewer corporations.
The hundred dollar question, will the Mayor and  Think Big  change their focus to jobs, police, deficits, Roller Derby Teams  or will they approach the owners of the New York Jets ?
