Wal Mart Raining on Sacramento Politicians may result in more Wal Marts

Wal Mart hasn’t built a superstore in Sacramento  in years…   But that might change…..  As the city is considering changing its big box store policy.     Will those members of the council who accepted money from Wal Mart abstain?

According to the Bee,  Wal Mart has donated $800,000 to Mayor Kevin Johnson and his charities.

 Jay Schenirer foundation received $50,000.

Councilwoman Angelique Ashby summer camp program received $7,000.

Darrell Fong received $5,000 for the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.

Michelle Rhee, Kevin Johnson’s wife received 8 million for her Students First Program.

Last December, the state Fair Political Practices Commission penalized Johnson $37,500 – $1,500 for each of 25 violations of the reporting requirement on behests totaling more than $3.5 million and going back to 2009. He blamed an “unintentional administrative lapse.”

Groups across the city oppose change in the city’s  big box ordinance……. stay tuned….

Moved to the Big Tomata in the nineties from San Francisco. No Suburbs for me with its single colored houses and lawns and the excitement of pulling out my trash can once a week. I'm a CityFella , a part time New Yorker. I'm happiest in the Center City where people the streets and people are alive. I'm still waiting to buy a 34th floor condo somewhere downtown/Midtown with a nightclub. "Hurry I'm old" My politics are somewhere in the middle with a needle that constantly moves. I'm too liberal to be a Republican and too conservative to be a Democrat. Everything interests me . I've come to love Sacratomato, Its a nice town in cheap sensible shoes .
