Kissing the hand

Trump's Awful Middle East Policies Are Coming Back to Haunt Him | The New Yorker

Currently ,32% of Americans approve of Former President Donald Trump, this includes 81% of Republicans.

Love him or loathe him, If your a Republican, you may need to kiss the hand of Donald J Trump to survive the primary. The former Preisdent has a history, of campaiging against those who speak against him, even to the demtriment of his party.

He punished Georgia, encourged Republicans to avoid a flawed voting system. More Republicans loathe him, then love him, many resent what he has done to the Grand Old Party. The current Republican Party is the Trump party. There isn’t a current party platform, official direction, or an overall goal. Their sole purpose is to please Trump, tocpraise Trump, to humor Trump, even if it destroys the Party.

If he feels threatened by the establishment of the party, he threatens to form his own party. The Republicans are coming apart at the seams. The establishment is losing control to the fringe members of the party.

With a 32% approval rating, how well would a Trump endorced candidate fare in the general election in the large suburban areas where the former president struggled in the last election.

Liz Cheney’s fight for the integrity of the party is making waves. On Sunday, some members openly expressed support. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan condemned the centrality of Trump to the party on NBC News’ “Meet the Press”: “It just bothers me that you have to swear fealty to ‘Dear Leader’ or you get kicked out of the party.” He called the fight to replace Cheney “sort of a circular firing squad where we’re just attacking our own party.

On CBS ‘Face the Nation” Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., one of the few House Republicans to vote for Trump’s second impeachment said, “It’s incredible. Liz Cheney is saying exactly what Kevin McCarthy said the day of the insurrection. She’s just consistently been saying it. And a few weeks later, Kevin McCarthy changed to attacking other people,” I think the reality is that we as a party need to have an internal look and a full accounting as to what led to January 6. I mean, right now it’s basically like we’re the Titanic. We’re in the middle of this slow sink, there’s a band on deck telling everyone it’s fine, meanwhile Donald Trump is looking for women’s clothing trying to get on the first life boat,”

Holding on to Trump could back fire. Many believe it was Trump that brought people to the ballot box. The Gop tent has a narrow opening, you have to know the hand shake and have a hat and a sign. The Republicans may have overplayed their hand in an attempt to suppress the vote. Will Republican voters remember the new requirments ? These new laws are mobiling Democrats and the new voting changes could dissuade older Republican voters.

On Wedesday, the question is will the vote for Cheney’s outster be private or public, and will Trump punish those Republicans who voted to retain Cheney?
