When Dolly was 22,musician and country music entertainer Porter Wagoner invited Parton to join his organization, offering her a regular spot on his weekly syndicated television program The Porter Wagoner Show, and in his road show. It was Wagoner who convinced his label “RCA” to offer Dolly a contract. The duo had many successful hits. Dolly’s Jolene (1973) was her biggest solo hit to date.
